Telenor launches 4G+

Telenor is launching 4G+ in more than 200 municipalities today, and by summer, people in more than half of Norway's municipalities will have the fastest mobile broadband of all time in their pockets.

(Fornebu, 10 April 2015) Telenor is launching 4G+ in more than 200 municipalities today, and by summer, people in more than half of Norway's municipalities will have the fastest mobile broadband of all time in their pockets.

The 4G+ technology adds even more capacity to Telenor's mobile network, coverage and speed - and will provide a massive boost to Norwegians across the country.

'Our customers should always be guaranteed the best mobile experience; in terms both voice and data, where they live, work and holiday. Our mobile network is very well suited to 4G+, which means that we combine multiple frequencies on the mobile network to increase customers' utilisation of their mobiles,' explains Bjørn Ivar Moen, Head of the Mobile Division at Telenor Norway.

Up to 300 Mbit/s
'Although 4G+ can offer theoretical data speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s, it is important to point out that this upgrade will release resources on the 4G network. This means that customers with 4G phones will also get a lot of joy out of 4G+,' says Moen.

For people with newer smartphones that support the solution, the symbol 4G+ will be shown on the display, and most manufacturers will be releasing smartphone models during the year that fully support 4G+.

'We're delighted that more than half of the municipalities in the country will have access to 4G+ before the summer,' says Moen.

Samsung S6 exclusive
In connection with the upgrade to 4G+, Telenor will be the only operator in Norway to retail Samsung's latest top model, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The phone will be offered on an exclusive basis for one month from 11 April.

The phone offers full support for 4G+ and will be available to both new and existing customers, regardless of whether they are private or business customers.

4G+ from north to south
More than 200 municipalities will have access to 4G+ delivered by Telenor before July. All counties in the country are represented among these municipalities. The majority of the 4G network will be upgraded to support 4G+ during the course of 2016.
