Technology and IT: New leaders for Telenor Norway

(Fornebu, 17. August 2018) New measures at Telenor Norway to respond to the digital shift. Ingeborg Øfsthus will take over as CTO on 1 September. Simultaneously, IT will be spun off from the Technology division to become its own division within the company. This unit will be headed up by Richard Stigaard.

Øfsthus will be joining from her post as CEO of Telenor Serbia. She has previously held a number of leadership roles in various Telenor companies in Germany, Thailand and Norway. She takes over from Christer Eneroth, who has been acting CTO since March of this year.

‘I am very grateful for the board’s faith in me and I am looking forward to developing new services that will make daily life even better for our customers. Not to mention that it will be amazing to be part of the ongoing development of Telenor’s incredible network. After several years abroad, it is going to be exciting to return home with new perspectives,’ says Øfsthus.

Christer Eneroth will now return to his post as Head of Strategy and Projects in the Technology division of Telenor Norway.

Investing in IT

Telenor has set ambitious goals that require an increased focus on digitization, which means it is crucial that IT is a success. By establishing a dedicated division, IT will benefit from more focus and be more closely tied to the management team. The newly created division will be led by Richard Stigaard, who has previously been CTO of Telenor Denmark and has most recently been involved in IT transformation work taking place in Telenor Group.

The current head of IT, Dag Henning Nikolaisen, will be taking on new exciting assignments in Telenor.

Better equipped for the future

Head of Telenor Scandinavia, Berit Svendsen, explains that these changes will ensure the company is better equipped for the future.

‘It’s always gratifying to see Telenor employees grow and develop within the company. Both Ingeborg and Richard are excellent leaders with highly skilled backgrounds and I have every confidence in them. Telenor is now even better equipped to succeed in its digitization work,’ says Svendsen.
