(Fornebu, 18 October 2017). Telenor Norway is reorganising its mobile division for the private market, and a smaller department in Fixed & TV located at Gjøvik will be closed. Approximately 80 employees will be made redundant. The changes are part of the Telenor overall digitalisation agenda.

– Today, several competent employees have been informed that we are making changes to different areas of the organisation. Now we must ensure that the people affected are treated well and receive support going forward, says Berit Svendsen, CEO of Telenor Norway.

The whole Telenor organisation is changing. Ambitious goals have been set for the company which requires efficiency, digitalisation and cost cuts.

– Telenor aims at being in front of the digitalisation of Norway. This means that we must change the organisation of Telenor Norway and how we work. Digitalisation presents both challenges and opportunities in the market. We must secure growth by developing new products and services, explains Svendsen.

Mobile
According to Head of the Mobile division, Bjørn Ivar Moen, Telenor's mobile business has seen impressive growth, but due to market development and new customer demands the organisation has to change.

– Customer behaviours are changing with digitalisation. We are making changes in order to be at the forefront of this development. We will continue to deliver the added value appreciated by the customer, but in a more efficient way, says Bjørn Ivar Moen.

The organisation and processes of Telenor's Mobile division are being simplified and made more efficient, with a less hierarchical structure and with more digital solutions. Around 60 employees will be made redundant, mainly at Fornebu.

Fixed & TV
Over several years Fixed & TV has made processes and production methods more efficient. A number of tasks are now largely automated, which means fewer tasks require manual input. A small department at Gjøvik in the Fixed & TV division will close. Around 20 people will be made redundant. Telenor Norway's other operations at Gjøvik will be unaffected.

Employees facing redundancy will be offered severance packages in accordance with company guidelines.
