Oookla: Telenor with Norway's fastest network in 2017
(Fornebu, 16th May 2018) In a new report from Ookla, Telenor Norway is awarded for having the fastest mobile network in Norway in 2017. The result is based on customers' own measurements.
According to the measurements, the average Telenor download speed was 62.92 Mbps and the average upload speed was 17.85 Mbps.

We are still expanding 4G coverage, even though it now covers 99% of the Norwegian population. Furthermore, we have started preparations for 5G. This test shows that we've been successful with our aggressive and long-term commitment to coverage and capacity, says Amundsen.
Unique coverage strategy
Amundsen stresses that Telenor has followed a unique strategy in expanding the network, in which different frequencies complement one another.
– The result is a stable and lightning-fast mobile network that ensures you can talk, stream and surf with no problems. The majority of the 4G network has been upgraded to 4G+. This means that the mobile network is better equipped to handle a lot of traffic, while delivering faster speeds, says Amundsen.
Annual mobile data use has increased by 60% among Telenor customers, and this trend will continue.
96% of all data traffic on the Telenor mobile network is now via 4G, while the equivalent figure for voice traffic is 52%.
