The main objective of the OPTIMUM project is to establish guidelines for the introduction of advanced multimedia communications networks and stimulate to increased use of the services provided by such networks by analysing the technoeconomic consequences. Special attention will be devoted to emerging multimedia services. OPTIMUM is a project within the ACTS Programme (Advanced CommunicationsTechnologies and Services), which represents the European Commission's major effort to support precompetitive RTD (Research and Technological Development) in the context of trials in the field of telecommunications during the period of the Fourth Framework Programme of scientific research and development (1994-1998). |
